One of the best things about SHOT Show is visiting with the firearm manufacturers that our customers know and love. We take this opportunity to discuss with their reps the trends their seeing and what plans they may have – especially regarding concealed carry pistols.
We stopped by the Heckler and Koch booth to see what they had cooking. As you all know, the VP series of pistols has been wildly successful for H&K. With the relatively recent release of the VP9SK, this success has only been augmented. While we didn’t receive a definitive answer, we wouldn’t be surprised if we starting seeing the VP9SK offered in the color configurations currently offered in the VP9 line. We particularly liked this VP9 with a bronze slide.
New for 2018, SureFire’s XH55G is a powerhouse of a weapon light. Kicking out 1000 lumens and paired with a green laser above the light, the XH55G features SureFire’s MaxVision Beam that throws the light out to 110 meters. We’re looking forward to getting this light into our shop to make molds for it.
Glock introduced two new Gen5 models to their catalog with the Glock 26 and Glock 34 joining the Gen5 ranks. They have all the same great characteristics found in the initial Gen5 models. On the Glock 26 Gen5 we noticed the frame matched up better with the beveled slide – something they didn’t do on the Glock 19 Gen5.
Firearms may be front and center at SHOT Show – but it’d be a mistake to overlook all the awesome knives that are on display as well! We stopped by the Spyderco booth to check out the Perrin PPT sprint run that is set for release this year. This frame lock features a full flat ground CPM S90V blade and carbon fiber scales. Quantities will be limited (sprint run) so be sure to camp on your favorite Spyderco dealer to snag one when they drop.
